Shiro-Nuri and Minori

I think everyone who is into Lolita and other Japanese subcultures have heard something about Minori. I think I saw her about one year ago for the first time on a street style website and I was completely amazed by her. I have to admit she is one of my favorite artists since then because she is so unique and inspiring.

Minori wears the Shiro-Nuri subculture, I'm not sure you can call it a fashion style because it's not all about fashion. That's why I prefer to call it a subculture. Then how do you recognize someone who is part of the Shiro-Nuri subculture, if it's not about a special style of clothing? The white painted skin of course. ^__^  There is a lot of freedom in the subculture because of that, it's not the same as lolita for example when you need to wear a petticoat no matter what. Minori's outfits and make-up are designed by herself, she often remakes existing clothing.

Minori - Her Memories of a Dream (37)

I really look up to Minori because she is so beautiful and unique and also because of her amazing personality. Her idea that it's so important to be yourself is so true. I think that makes her even more special, she does not dress up as Shiro-Nuri, it's her true self. I'm not really sure but I feel it's like that. This is not fashion anymore this is more than fashion, it's art I think! I'm really looking foward to see more of Minori in the future, it makes me so happy to see pictures of her. It makes me realize that it's so important to be yourself because then you have the strength to even make miracles happen.

Please watch this interview on youtube, I won't regret watching it. ^__^

I am really amazed by Minori and I really want to be Shiro-Nuri myself one day.
I don't want to do the same thing as Minori, I want to give it my own twist and add some of my own ideas of Shiro-Nuri in my (future) looks.
Although I really want to try this I'm not sure if it will work out well, I did some research and it's not going to be easy... Guess what? I'm not going to give up that easily...
What do you think.. should I give it a try or is it something that I must not do because I can't? (because of it's Minori's style, it wouldn't suit me or whatever you may think of)
Please tell me!

LBC: Underrated colors

Hello everyone!

It was so lovely to read all your posts last week, unfortunately I couldn't find the time to comment on every blog. I really enjoyed reading about all your favorite dresses. ^___^

This week's theme is underrated colors, I really like to talk about this subject. I have this kind of feeling that most of the lolitas stick to the more popular colors because they are afraid do something wrong. There is nothing wrong with more popular colors like black, pink, blue and brown.
The most underrated color is green because it's a beautiful and elegant color. There are many variations of the color green, there is no way  to be bored of the color green. One of the misunderstanding about green lolita clothes is that those clothes are cheap or only suitable for ita's.
That's not true! Green is not cheap, it's all about the fabric and dress design. I want to show you some of the variations of the color green with this color scheme.

Now I want to show some amazing examples of green lolita. Many lolitas think that there are no or just a little green lolita dresses only that's not true. There are many green dresses even from the most popular lolita brands.

Maybe you are wondering about me, if you talking so much only about the color green instead of more underrated colors then you must have a green lolita dress, right? It's true, I just have one green lolita dress, I'm pretty sure that this won't be the last.  In the beginning of the year I saw the new release from Moi-même-Moitié and I really loved that dress. Guess what happened? I missed the release, it was already sold out in one day. It made me really sad... A few days after that I decided to make a green dress myself inspired on the beautiful Moitié JSK. In the end it's really different than the dress from Moitié only I really satisfied with the result.  It was so much work, I hope you will like it. ^__^

Thanks for reading and I hope this post will change your opinion about the color green. It's an amazing elegant color and perfect for gothic lolita and classic lolita.

LBC: My favorite dress

My favorite dress, I never thought this would be so difficult. My favorite dress never was a dream dress of mine, you might be wondering why I even bought it. My favorite dress is the Holy Stained Glass from Moi-même-Moitié in Silver x Black.

Let me tell your more about this dress and let me tell you why this dress is so special to me even when it's not my dream dress. It feels really weird to say but this dress was meant for me,  I needed to have it and not because it was so beautiful. This sounds a little bit vague...
Let me explain it! I really liked this dress when Moi-même-Moitié released it, I fell in love white the shape of the dress. And look at the print it's amazing especially the glitters! There aren't many people who can tell that they have a dress with sparkling saints. ^_~
That's why I started saving up for it, I guess it didn't went that well only I graduated from high school so I could pick a gift. My mom thought it was ridiculous to give me a expensive dress like that, it wasn't something that I would like forever. I asked my dad and I was very lucky, he decided to partially pay for my dress because of my graduation. So... I can tell you, it was a partially gift from my dad which meant so much for me. I was so happy! ^___^
That's the first reason why I think this dress is more special than my other dresses.

Only when the dress arrived after three week or something, I had to pay a huge amount of custom taxes. I think half of the whole amount... That day so my mom opened the door and had to pay for the taxes. After I payed she was furious, she found out the price of the dress and about the custom taxes of course. I was really surprised  I've had already warned her about the taxes and such.. She didn't have to pay it herself, so I didn't get all the fuss. Only every week I began to feel more and more ashamed that I bought a dress of such a huge amount of money... And those custom taxes I was so furious about that why did I always have to pay so much money? It's unfair some people never get those!

That's why I started to hate the dress, I thought wasn't worth a dress from Moi-même-Moitié...I wore the dress once then I really wanted to sell it.. I didn't wanted to have that dress anymore.  I hated it, it had to go! Unfortunately (??) I couldn't sell it... there was nobody who could offer me that large amount of money or trade the dress. Every meetup I said, this is the last time I wear this dress. It's a goodbye, this time for sure. Only I wore the dress more and more... I've never had a lolita dress which I wore more than ten times. That's why I started to like it, all those times and all those good memories I have when I wore that pretty dress.

The last reason why I could NEVER sell this dress has something to do with a deeper meaning. With the recordings of a Dutch television program I wore the Holy Stained Glass. So... I was on TV while I was wearing this dress! I guess that's great?!  ^__^
The reason why I wore this dress wasn't nice.. I knew I was going to loose someone important in a few days. I had to wear my memorial cake that day only I couldn't... you should not wear pink dresses in a situation like that.
My outfit from that day was a memorial outfit, to show my last honor.

This dress is so much more than just a dress. It has so many reason why I love it with all my heart, not because it's a beautiful dress, it's because all those memories. Many good memories and many bad memories, this dress remembers me not to give up and follow my dreams. This dress remembers me to think twice if you want something and not to judge in advance. Although I didn't like this dress first, I even hated it for a while, it's my favorite dress. The most important one this dress remembers me of friendship, of all those nice days I've had with my friends. And hopefully for all those days that will going to happen in the future.

I hope you understand why the Holy Stained Glass is my favorite dress...
I would love the hear all your stories about your favorite dresses! Please tell me! ^__^

Fashion show Fly Away Fashion at Nishicon

Hello everyone!

I'm so sorry I'm late again with my updates, I should have written this post last week.
I was ill this week...

Three weeks ago Fly Away Fashion held a fashion show at Nishicon a Manga and Anime convention. I was one of their models, I couldn't be happier, I couldn't imagine me modelling in a lolita fashion show. ^___^ Fly Away Fashion is a Dutch lolita brand located in Houten (near Utrecht) they have their own shop and a webshop. I showed you the shop a couple of times on my blog when I went to their tea parties.
First I met Renske in Utrecht and then we went to Haarlem to take a look at the convention. I had to travel for a long time so why shouldn't I go a little bit earlier otherwise my day was pretty worthless and I really wanted to buy an alcapasso plush. After we saw everything, the other girls weren't there yet. So we decided to go shopping for a while in Haarlem and we went to Mac Donald's after that. (very classy, lol) It was such a fun day and the fashion show even had not started yet.

Mirror picture in the huge mirror..
Nishicon was in a classy hotel it was enjoyable to see normal guest between all the cosplayers.
You could see at their faces what they were thinking: OMG what's happening here?!

The JSK I wore with the fashion show was from the Roses a Dawn series. This is the skirt version to give you an idea how the print looks like. This week the skirts will be uploaded on the website, I'm really excited even though I want the JSK. I don't wear skirts so often... I guess I need to save up for it, hahaha. Click here for the webshop!

We were with a group twelve girls ( included Katie, the designer) and the was also another group Reality will Kill you with a few other models who modeled other Japanese styles. The fly away fashion show existed out of two parts a cute angel group those models wore classic and sweet lolita. The other group wore gothic lolita, pirate lolita and bittersweet, they represented the demon group. This was because of the angel & demon theme of Nishicon. I think you can all guess that I wore gothic lolita, not just gothic lolita I wore OTT gothic lolita for the first time. I never wore so much accessories: wirstcuffs, a bunny bag, a big headbow, a bird hairpin and many many ribbons. I really liked the idea of the look Katie had in mind for me, I would have chosen a outfit like this myself.

I hope you all like it! ^___^
I'm sorry for all the late replies on your messages, I don't have much time T___T

Fly Away Fashion Sparkly Winter Night Tea party

I went to the Fly Away Fashion tea party last week. I was really looking forward to it,tea parties are always so much fun and I love food! The trip to the Fly Away Fashion shop was also fun because I traveled together with 3 friends. ^__^

The tea party was a theme meetup this time, the theme was Sparkly Winter Night. We were all supposed to dress up in our favorite winter outfits. Sounds nice right? This was my first idea of a coord:

angel winter coord

JSK: Moi-même-Moitié
Pullover: H&M
Fake fur collar: Fly Away Fashion
Tights: Taobao
Shoes: offbrand

Only when I tried the clothes on it looked awful! The white fur color and the tights really mismatched, I had to make a new coord. >.< I didn't wear a wig the weather was very windy that's why I was too afraid to lose my wig.

When we arrived we met up with Katie the shop owner and designer of Fly Away Fashion and we were told to go upstairs. Upstairs we were welcomed by Katie and she told us about the high tea, the new collection and about other topics related to the meetup. Katie wore a wonderful dress, she looked so great, the dress was also part of the new collection.

This is one of the new dresses from Fly away fashions new collection.

Then we could enjoy our tea and sweets or visit the shop downstairs. I talked with some friends first while I ate a lot of delicious food like cake, sandwiches and brownies.

There were also many people which I haven't met before, it was nice to meet them. Unfortunately I couldn't talk with everyone there were so many people! After that I visited the shop where I ordered new shoes. ^__^ I haven't bought anything else because I'm waiting for a dress already... At last we all had to go upstairs for the outfit competition and the lottery. The outfit competition was a winter themed just like the meetup, 5 beautiful girls participated the competition. They all looked wonderful! <3 Josine was the winner of the competition. Let me show you all of  them!

In the end there was a lottery, there were three prices. I was so lucky I won the second price! ^__^

In the evening we went with a some girls to a Chinese restaurant and then it was already time to go home. Thanks everyone for the nice day especially Katie, you did a great job organizing the sparkly winter night tea party. Next time I will definitely go again, I can't wait!

Formspring Question: sense of style

What do you think about the sense of style in your local community? Do you have a lot of weeaboos or do you have very well-dressed people?:D Any highlights in style? I'm on Tumblr a lot and I rarely see Dutch lolitas!

I think my local community has a great sense of fashion. ^^ Of course there are weirdos once in a while, that's something you can't avoid. Most of the people who are truly interested in lolita fashion are motivated to learn from their 'mistakes', I think everyone should get enough time to learn about lolita and find their own style. It's not that easy! And the people who are only in the community to get attention won't stay for long.

The difference between Dutch lolitas and lolitas from other countries is that they are less active on websites like Daily Lolita and such. There aren't many tumblr famous lolitas from the Netherlands... Most Dutch lolitas share their pictures on their blogs, the problem is that you need to find those blogs. The most popular way to share pictures is facebook these days which is mostly friend only. And the Dutch community isn't that big, I think there are about 100 lolitas who wear lolita regulary and attend meetups. There are more people (I don't know anything about the numbers) who have lolita clothes which they don't wear ( in public/post pictures on the internet) and people who like lolita only haven't start wearing it yet.  So... that's why you can't find much pictures from Dutch lolitas.

The first link I want to give you is the Dutch Lolita tumblr:

Some Dutch inspiration blogs and tumblrs:

* Damien

Some Dutch lolita 'brands'
There are more Dutch lolitas with an amazing style this is just an impression! I hope you like it and that it helped a little bit! ^____^

Formspring question: Are there any lolitas you look up to as a person?

Someone asked me this on formspring:

Are there any lolitas you look up to as a person?

==================================
My answer

Hello ^__^

Thank you for your question! There are lolitas which I look up to as a person. It's true that I met so many inspiring people through lolita. It's a good question, I try to answer it as good as I can. This is kind of different from my lolita idols because that's more about clothes...
I need to meet someone to look up to someone I think... the internet is a nice place for inspiration only you never know whose the person behind it. I mean you can hide a lot about who you really are on the internet, that's why!

Linda Friesen
I really look up to her because she always looks amazing as lolita. And she is an amazing designer every piece of clothing she made is so perfect *_*  It's my dream to design and make as beautiful clothes like her.  Have you ever heard of 4 'O Clock?  ( The brand name was Mirror in the beginning) That's her brand! Please take a look at this facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/4oclockbylindafriesen

Iira
Iira is one of the most wonderful persons I have ever met. She is such a nice person, an amazing lolita and she makes absolutely beautiful clothes for her brand Rosa Nitida. Her style is so unique and beautiful, I wish I could be so lady like when I wear lolita. Her blog: http://rosanitida.blogspot.com/

Pinkish-white
She is such a nice person and a beautiful lolita. Her artwork is so cute and beautiful, I wish a could draw and paint like that. ^___^ This is her tumblr: http://pinkish-white.tumblr.com/

I have to admit that look up to everyone who has the guts to wear lolita, it's not easy. Wearing lolita means standing out of the crowd. There are always shitty people who say hurtful things and some people never understand the style. I guess we are all brave enough, hahaha! I like brave people :)

Please take a look on my blog for pictures ~~~
And thanks again for your question!

Have a nice day!
Best wishes,
Anne

Lolita Blog Carnival: 5 themed Meetup Ideas

First of all I'm very sorry for not writing for the lolita blog carnival!
I really like it and it's so nice to read other blogs and hear opinions from other lolitas about certain themes. From now on I try to be more active!
This week I noticed something odd, many pictures disappeared from my blog..
I'm not very happy about that. Many of those picture were on my other laptop and that one is broken, it can't be fixed anymore. I'm going to try to get my pictures back, but first I'm going to remove the empty picture icons, that annoys me so much..

Meetup themes, that's something I really like!
Let's start! ^____^

Rococo tea party

This one is my favorite idea and it's going to happen in January here in Holland, that's not weird because Josine and I are organizing this meetup. Let me explain the idea of a Rococo tea party.
Everyone knows that lolita is influenced by the Rococo era and why we should go back to the roots of lolita and add a few more lolita elements to it. This meeting is all about bonnets, Marie Antoinette, many many details on the dresses, big hair and so much more...
And aristocratic ladies loved to drink tea, that's why we decided to make a tea party of it.

Fairy tale meetup

I really love fairy tales, I always loved them since I was a kid and I still do.
Now I collect old fairy tale books, with amazing illustrations.
There are so many fairy tale themed prints and dresses, I'm wondering why there wasn't a fairy tale meetup before... Every lolita wants to be their favorite character from a fairy tale for one day, right? Let's make it happen! I think I would like to wear a little red riding hood outfit, the little mermaid outfit or maybe a inspired outfit from a relative unknown fairy tale?

Masquerade ball

Once in my live I want to go to a lolita masquerade ball, that would be so amazing!
Everyone MUST wear a mask or something that covers your face. There will be nice music for some dancing and enough chairs and tables to eat and drink something. The event must be in a castle, manor house or something other classy!

Twin meetup

Everyone who attends this meetup has to twin with another lolita. It doesn't have to be the same print, the same style is okay only it would be nice if everyone has someone or more persons to twin with!

Pirate Meetup

Pirate lolita is still underrated I think, it has to change! If you do it well it's not too costume like, like many people think. What I love about pirate lolita are the many details in the outfit and it's not too girly. And of course the tricorn hats which are so awesome, it's a great excuse to wear mine again. The overall theme of the meetup will be the sea so mermaid coords and sailor lolita would be great too.The perfect location for a pirate meetup is the beach, hopefully the weather will be nice enough next year. ^___^

Secretly I want to do a treasure hunting game on the beach, that would be so much fun!

 Blog list

I can't wait to read your blogs! ^__^
Next time I want to show you a drawing which a friend of mine made for me, show you some of my recent buyings, tell about the fly away fashion show and answer one of my blog readers questions. (I'm pretty sure this won't be one blog post)
